Meeting Opportunities and Challenges
A special symposium of the 2011 Tilth Producers of Washington Conference
Speaker Bio - Luke Zigovits
Luke Zigovits has a 15-year history with organic crop systems. He has experience as a commercial greenhouse nurseryman, a biodynamic market gardener, and in large scale organic grain production and marketing on the western Canadian prairies. Luke is also a soil science aficionado, and has a passion for high quality food for humans and high quality feed for animals. His interest in and knowledge of human and animal nutrition is applied daily though the Organic Feed Program to help provide Organic Valley with healthier and more productive animals.
Luke currently lives in southwest Wisconsin where he is homesteading on 10 acres with his wife Sarah, and six-month-old daughter Olive. They grow food, fruit and nut trees; keep laying hens and honeybees; and focus on sustainability and self sufficiency. Luke’s home is off the grid, generating its own power through a solar PV system.
