This bulletin presents results from 10 years of research on the use of annual alfalfas in the upper Midwest. Research shows that including an annual alfalfa for seeding year production of forage and nitrogen in rotations can increase grain yield and economic returns from subsequent crops, through N and non-N rotation effects. Discusses a new nondormant alfalfa variety, Nitro.
