Describes production guidelines for fababean in Montana. Fababeans contain from 24 to 30 % protein in the seed, and energy content is high. They can replace soybean meal in animal rations. Fababean silage is equal to alfalfa-grass silage. Fababean is best adapted to cool, moist sites. It requires irrigation in most of Montana. It is very frost tolerant. A partial production budget indicates low returns of $10/ac.
