Heritage chicken breeds differ in parasite pathology and bacterial infection susceptibility under experimental challenge.

This progress report evaluates disease resistance variation among heritage chicken breeds commonly used in organic poultry systems. Because organic production limits pharmaceutical disease control while increasing pathogen exposure, breed-level resistance may be an important management tool.
