What is StockSmart?

StockSmart is a free rangelands management tool that uses big data to help you make smart grazing decisions. StockSmart accesses remotely sensed forage production data across the Western US and allows the user to overlay information on their own operation and livestock to calculate stocking rates.
This online tool was developed by Washington State University, the University of Arizona and the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station.
Development of StockSmart was supported by the intramural research program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, accession number 1026404.
